“Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” Exhibition Closes This Sunday at The Met

One of the hottest shows of summer is coming to a close this Sunday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. When we first announced the publication of the catalog for “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”, there was nothing to see; and now, the exhibition has even picked up an extra week in the time since!

After the unveiling of the lenticular book jacket, a Royal wedding dress from the McQueen house, interviews with curator Andrew Bolton, a Costume Institute Gala opening, and extra tips and extended hours from the Museum on how to see the dark and fantastic designs of this most original creator, here’s your last chance! The show will close this Sunday, August 7, remaining open until midnight.

The impressions that McQueen’s styles have left on the world of fashion are unmistakable, both in words and images. McQueen himself put it in Harper’s Bazaar in 2008: “I never conformed to any sort of fashion ideal. My idea was always to show reality, even though I started at Savile Row and ended up at Givenchy in Paris; to depict the times I live in.” Take a tour with Bolton around the galleries to see highlights from McQueen’s career and learn about the influences of Romanticism, Gothic art, light and dark, and exotic and naturalist visions in his work.
