Our September celebration of education isn’t only because the kiddies are going back to school. As a scholarly publisher, our mission is to publish serious works that educate both within and outside the classroom. From museum programs and school reform to learning about animals and the place of rap in the classroom, the ideas from our publications are intended to engage and publicly disseminate the intellectual pursuits and achievements that advance our understanding of cultural life.

This month we’ll have an interview with David Margolick on his new biography, Elizabeth and Hazel: Two Women of Little Rock (still time to win a copy through the Goodreads giveaway); Mary Gentile will discuss ethics leadership and the curriculum for Giving Voice to Values; as we ready for the 10^th anniversary of 9/11, dignity becomes essential in Donna Hicks’s examination of its power over human relationships and conflict resolution; a new addition to the 3@2 Interviews, with Peggy and Murray Schwartz illuminating the legacy of dancer, anthropologist, and educator Pearl Primus; a books contest in honor of the new illustrated edition of A Little History of the World; and there’s no reason to leave out the excitement of Fashion Week for a chance to learn about how style has developed worldwide; all this and more as we kick off our Fall season of books.
