The Moment of Emma Goldman
Speaking of all the revolutionary action going around—Trotsky, anarchy, Wall Street—Emma Goldman seems to have a found a perfect moment to surface as she does in Vivian Gornick’s new Jewish Lives biography, Emma Goldman: Revolution as a Way of Life. A book-based essay that Gornick has written for The Jewish Week explores Goldman’s role as a Jewish immigrant in America, which carries an echo for the topic of immigration in the current GOP debates.
Next Thursday, November 10, at 7:30pm, Gornick will appear in conversation with Philip Lopate at the 92nd Street Y to talk about Emma Goldman’s legacy as a rebel against oppression. Be sure to purchase tickets while they’re still available!
