December Theme: Holiday Gift Giving
It’s that time of year, and we are definitely in the holiday giving spirit here at Yale University Press! All month long, we’ll be bringing you gift book ideas and wish lists from our Spring and Fall 2011 seasons.
From Nigel Warburton’s A Little History of Philosophy to the new Unpacking My Library volume on writers and their books, fun stories about legal vernacular in Lawtalk, scores of biographies of famous figures like Bob Dylan, and selections of journals and correspondence from literary powerhouses like T.S. Eliot.
You’ll also see more of our fashion highlights, including the year’s best books on Alexander McQueen and Chanel, along with a post from fashion historian Aileen Ribeiro on Facing Beauty. And you never know what YUP’s Paper Doll will be wearing to her holiday party!
To speak of religion, we’ll have an interview with Craig Harline on the insightful and powerful narrative direction of Conversions, while John Edwards will be back with the story of his life with Mary I. And—at last—the launch of our “World of Letters” column, beginning with the story behind the evolution of the new illustrated edition of E.H. Gombrich’s A Little History of the World.
The best part is everyone will have a chance to win a free copy of the books we’re talking about! Make sure to follow us December 1 – 22 on Twitter @yalepress with the hashtag #yupholiday for book prizes and giveaways. AND you can now follow @yaleARTbooks for extra news about museum exhibitions and catalogs, and the art publishing world at large!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…!
