Welcome to our weekly roundup of news from university presses! Once again, there is a lot to share this week from our fellow academic publishing houses and much to learn on What SUP at the social university presses. This week, we found conversations on paranormal hoax photography, challenging taboos as well as free book giveaways! What did you read this week?

The MIT Press shared a guest post by author Gary Tomlinson where he reflects on his thought process during the writing of the book A Million Years of Music and his hopes for how his book will shape the discussions surrounding the study of music.

Duke University Press celebrated National Poetry Month by sharing a poem by Renato Rosaldo, from his book of ethnographic poetry, The Day of Shelly’s Death: The Poetry and Ethnography of Death.

John Hopkins University Press shared a bit of Maryland Spring with us by giving us tips about how to enjoy nature in their hometown.

Oxford University Press tested our philosophy knowledge with a quiz on philosophers and their famous quotes.

New York University Press is giving away a free copy of  Dissent: The History of an American Idea !

University of Kentucky Press celebrated April Fool’s by exploring ancient photography tricks to capture hoax paranormal activity on film.

Princeton University Press interviewed Jeff Nunokawa, author of “Note Book” who has  been writing an essay in Facebook a day since 2007.

University of Georgia Press is now calling for submissions for the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction 2015 competition!

Columbia University Press is giving away a free copy of  The Greening of Asia: The Business Case for Solving Asia’s Environmental Emergency!

Stanford University Press talked about attending this year’s annual conference of the Organization of American Historians on  “Challenging Taboos”.
