The hamburger has become a symbol of American culture and values around the world; it also became the subject of the latest book in Yale University Press‘s hugely successful “Icons of America” series. In The Hamburger: A History, Josh Ozersky “includes the wisdom of everyone from Margaret Mead to Thomas Hine to Ken Kesey in analyzing why this humble sandwich has reached mythic proportions,” writes Tanya Steel on the food website Epicurious.com.
