Welcome to The Fighting Cancer Blog

Dr. Richard Frank—

Welcome to the Fighting Cancer Blog. This website represents an extension of my book, Fighting Cancer with Knowledge and Hope: A Guide For Patients, Families and Health Care Providers. The emphasis is on Hope and Knowledge: Hope for healing and success in dealing with cancer; Knowledge as an essential part of understanding illness and seeing treatments through to the best outcomes. The goals of this blog are to discuss new treatments for cancer, explain promising scientific discoveries and provide perspective on cancer topics in the news and on the minds of the readers of this blog. I will also use this forum to respond to inquiries about my book.

My perspective is shaped by my experiences, both personally and professionally. I am presently a full-time medical oncologist/hematologist and clinical researcher in community practice as well as the medical director of an organization providing home hospice in CT. Previously, I was an academic oncologist at a university cancer center who performed laboratory research that delved into the molecular biology of cancer. I have been both professionally and personally deeply affected by cancer. As with my book, my aim is to provide clarity and comfort when the topic is cancer and the prevailing feelings are confusion and frustration. I hope to hear from you and I hope to help.

Richard C. Frank, M.D., is director of cancer research at the Whittingham Cancer Center of Norwalk Hospital, medical director of Mid-Fairfield Hospice, and Clinical Assistant Attending at Weill Cornell Medical College. He has been appointed cancer expert for WebMD and was named a “Top Doc” in the New York Metro area by Castle and Connelly.
