Bloomsday

This
Wednesday, June 16, is the anniversary of the day in the life of Dubliner Leopold
Bloom which is immortalized in James Joyce’s novel, Ulysses.  The day is now referred
to as Bloomsday, and is celebrated annually in many ways; revelers often are
found either tracing Bloom’s steps in Dublin, or an approximation of at least
some of them elsewhere, or in theaters listening to the words of Ulysses.

The Cast of Characters: A Reading of Ulysses: Paul Schwaber

For a different take on Ulysses, check out Paul Schwaber’s The Cast
of Characters: A Reading of Ulysses
.
Schwaber’s interest lies in using psychoanalysis to further our
understanding of this work of literature.
Through this cross-disciplinary approach, one can access new ideas, or
enhance olds ones, about the many personages found in Ulysses.  So this Bloomsday,
let Schwaber help you think more deeply about the minds of the characters who
se
lives you are hearing read aloud.
