This fall, Yale University Press and the Posen Foundation will launch The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, a ten-volume series that collects more than 3,000 years of Jewish cultural artifacts, texts, and paintings, selected by more than 120 internationally recognized scholars.

The inaugural anthology, Volume 10, 1973-2005, edited by Deborah Dash Moore and Nurith Gertz, will be published in November 2012. With more than 800 selections, the volume contains examples that best define Jewish culture and civilization—religious and secular, high and low, elite and popular—in the areas of literature, poetry, memoir, children’s literature, young adults’ literature, drama, visual culture, popular culture, intellectual culture, spiritual and religious culture, and liturgy, with lists of highlights in music, dance, and film.

In conjunction with the launch of Volume 10, YUP will simultaneously publish Jews and Words, by the Israeli author Amos Oz and his daughter, Fania Oz-Salzberger, exploring the words at the heart of Jewish culture and providing a lens through which to view the multi-volume anthology.
